Champion your Cause
Happy New Year!
What a year it has been at BYSJ! In 2006, BYSJ was honored again being awarded as Best Yoga Studio, by the San Jose Metro News and Best Yoga in Silicon Valley by City Search. Over 2500 members joined our community of students this year and we added three new classes. For the first time, BYSJ participated in the Northern California Bishnu Charan Ghosh Yoga Asana Championships and took home trophies for both 1st and 3rd place! What deserves the most recognition is that over 60 BYSJ members completed 60-days of consecutive yoga in the challenges we held in January and in July. Wow! A new challenge begins this month.
We all know how easy it is to set up a goal, and how hard it is to stay committed once the initial phase of momentum diminishes. Doing yoga teaches us that we can meet many challenges, even those we thought were beyond reach. We learn to stay the course despite the obstacles. And, in the end, we not only accomplish goals, but also set new thresholds, paving the road for further growth. Take this encouragement with you as you begin 2007. Keep focused on where you want to go and you’ll get there. “Keep chopping wood,†as the saying goes.
Entering the Yoga Asana Championship this year taught me to use my concentration even more and the result was a complete paradigm shift in my abilities. Instead of seeing limitation, I saw only possibility. Now, I have greater confidence and can heighten my focus to meet new challenges. You can too. Use yoga as a way to exercise the mind, body and spirit to not just rid yourself of injury or pain but to use the skill of concentration and the growing confidence it brings to realize other dreams. And watch how you champion the course of whatever you desire. Whether you are a new student or a long-time practitioner, may your yoga practice inspire you to reach and experience joy, success, and peace in 2007.
